Gary Stickel has joined Abiomed (Danvers, Massachusetts) as vice president of human resources and development. Stickel previously was vice president of human resources at Segue Software. Abiomed is a manufacturer of devices designed to assist or replace the pumping function of the failing heart.

Enpath Medical (Minneapolis, Minnesota), a developer of percutaneous delivery systems and stimulation lead technologies, has formed a sales and marketing department that combines and coordinates the activities of its two divisions, Delivery Systems and Lead Technologies. James Mellor has been promoted to senior vice president of sales and marketing. Mellor was vice president of sales and marketing for Biomec Cardiovascular prior to the merger of Medamicus and Biomec in October 2003, and has continued in that role for the Lead Technologies division of Enpath. James Reed, director of sales and marketing for the Delivery Systems division, assumes the new post of director of sales for the combined entity. Reed has been with the company since January 2002.

Robert McCulloch has been named chief financial officer of ePocrates (San Mateo, California). He most recently served as CFO of CardioVention. ePocrates provides clinical information to physicians and other healthcare professionals at the point of care.

John Alexander Martin has joined Edwards Lifesciences (Irvine, California) as president of its North America region. He previously was with Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson company, where he most recently served as senior vice president, international. Edwards is a leader in advanced cardiovascular disease treatments and the No. 1 heart valve company in the world.

Else-Marie Ostling has joined Heartbeat Digital (New York) as managing director and vice president of technology. She formerly was global chief technology officer of IconMedialab and will be based at Heartbeat Digital's development office in Bangkok, Thailand. Heartbeat Digital provides software and interactive marketing solutions to healthcare, financial services and diversified clients.

Ventracor (Sydney, Australia) has named Vanio Calgaro financial controller. He previously was financial controller and company secretary with Peptech. Victor Windeyer has been named VentrAssist program manager. He previously was program manager of medical and scientific instruments at Invetech Pty. Roman Greifeneder has been named manufacturing engineering manager. He previously held a similar post with ResMed. Ventracor is working to commercialize its VentrAssist artificial heart technology.
