A prominent figure in the biotechnology investment community,Richard Bock, died June 22 following a year-long struggle with braincancer. An investment executive with the Los Angeles firm Sutro &Co., Bock acted primarily as a retail stockbroker. Known as "BioBock" _ for his expertise in biotech issues _ he got involved in thefledgling industry in the 1970s. Bock joined Sutro & Co. in 1987 as thesenior vice president of investments.Among his professional achievements, Bock was selected by MoneyMagazine in 1988 as one of the best stockbrokers in the U.S., and wasfeatured in Business Week in 1991 as an authority on biotechnologycompanies.Bock's family has requested that contributions be directed to theNational Brain Tumor Foundation in San Francisco, Calif _ JenniferVan Brunt
