Orthopedic surgeon James Andrews, MD, will be installed as the 38th president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM; Rosemont, Illinois) on July 11, during the Society's Annual Meeting. Dr. Andrews is a founding member of the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center located at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama and a founder and chairman of the American Sports Medicine Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to injury prevention, education and research in orthopaedics and sports medicine. The AOSSM specializes in sports medicine education, research and communication.

Michael Reitermann has been named the new CEO of Siemens Healthcare's (Malvern, Pennsylvania) U.S. organization. Most recently, Reitermann was CEO of Siemens Molecular Imaging Business Unit. Siemens claims that its Healthcare Sector is one of the world's largest suppliers to the healthcare industry.

Eduardo Alfonso, MD, was named chairman of University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute (Miami). A board-certified ophthalmologist, Alfonso is a cornea specialist with special interest in corneal transplants. He is also medical director of Bascom Palmer's Ocular Microbiology Laboratory. The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute claims it has earned an international reputation as one of the premier providers of eye care in the world and is the largest ophthalmic care, research and educational facility in the southeastern U.S.
