The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA; Washington) has expanded its senior management team by adding three new staff members to its national office. They include Susan Bruney, VP, chapter development and training; Mary Crimmings, VP, marketing, communications and advocacy; and Anne Menotti, VP, development and fund raising. Previously, Bruney was regional field director for the Alzheimer's Association, Crimmings was VP for Matthews Media Group and Menotti was at American University, where she integrated fundraising, marketing and communication functions.

Gary Smith, PhD, has joined National Jewish Health (Denver) as executive director of the advanced diagnostics laboratories. Smith spent the previous 14 years at Laboratory Corporation of America, and most recently served as its senior vice president, managed care, Western operations. The ADx Laboratory at National Jewish Health is a diagnostic lab in respiratory, immune and related diseases.

• Strategic Diagnostics (Newark, Delaware) said that CFO Stanley Fronczkowski will be stepping down from his current position to pursue other interests, effective April 3, 2009. Strategic Diagnostics makes biotechnology-based detection solutions for a broad range of life science, food, water, agricultural, industrial and environmental applications.
