Alta Bates Medical Group (ABMG; San Francisco), an East Bay-area physician organization, said it is working with Illumisys (San Francisco) to implement physician adoption, deployment strategies and consolidation of various technology solutions available to its physicians and patients via the Internet. The goal is to ensure that ABMG's web presence is informative and patient-friendly.

Illumisys, a health information technology consulting firm, will provide planning, training and implementation project management services to ABMG. Illumisys consultants will complete practice assessments and workflow analyses and develop and implement adoption strategies along with physician communication and education programs. Working with RelayHealth (Atlanta), Illumisys staff will provide support for physician and office staff training and education and work with Sutter Connect (Sacramento, California) to create an ABMG web portal for its physicians and patients.

ABMG, an independent physicians association serving the Oakland, Berkeley and greater East Bay areas, is comprised of more than 600 physicians and serves 70,000 health plan members.

Illumisys provides systems integration, clinical practice improvement, electronic health record, practice management system and e-Prescribing implementation and training services.

In other agreements, America Hears (Bristol, Pennsylvania) reported it will standardize its family of premium digital hearing aids on the Voyaguer digital signal processing (DSP) platform from Sound Design Technologies (Ontario, Canada). The two companies also reported a joint development agreement to enhance the Voyaguer semiconductor platform with new capabilities "to deliver the world's best listening experience to hearing-aid customers."

Standardizing on the Voyaguer DSP platform, America Hears said it will deliver customer benefits that include smaller hearing aids, longer battery life, and better sound processing utilizing the Adaptive Dynamic Range Optimization (ADRO) amplifier algorithm developed by Dynamic Hearing (Melbourne, Australia) for America Hears. Voyaguer is Sound Design's DSP system for hearing-instrument applications, with processing power able to accommodate complex sound-processing algorithms.

Voyaguer is designed for applications requiring ultra-low power consumption, programmable flexibility and compact size.
