Jim Zierick has joined Aspyra (Calabasas, California) as interim CEO. Zierick most recently was CEO of LogicalApps. Aspyra provides clinical and diagnostic information solutions for the healthcare industry.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA; Washington) has appointed Charlotte Collins as director of public policy & advocacy. Collins previously was an associate professor in the George Washington University’s School of Public Health and Health Services. AAFA is an organization for people with asthma and allergies.

• LifeScience Alley (Minneapolis) reported the following new officers to its board of directors: secretary, Doug Astry, GM, diagnostics and drug discovery, SurModics, and vice chair, Ruth Lane, president/CEO, AllOut Marketing. LifeScience Alley is a trade association serving the life sciences in the Upper Midwest.

Peter Julien, MD, was named chief medical officer of Radlink (Redondo Beach, California). Julien is currently director of thoracic imaging at Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. Radlink is a software and hardware company that provides medical imaging systems to healthcare providers.

Girish Hagan was named VP of marketing for Toshiba America Medical Systems (Tustin, California). Previously, Hagan was director of business development and strategic management for Toshiba. Toshiba America Medical Systems makes diagnostic imaging systems.

• WaferGen Biosystems (Fremont, California) reported promoting two members of its management team. Kumar Kastury, PhD, esd promoted from director of assay development to VP of assay development; John McEntee was promoted from director of engineering to associate VP of engineering. The company also reported that Terry Osborn, PhD, company COO, is leaving WaferGen to pursue other interests. WaferGen makes gene expression, genotyping, cell biology and stem cell research systems.
