• Biovail (Toronto) said it has hired Gilbert Godin to become its senior vice-president, technical operations/drug delivery. Godin, who comes to Biovail from MDS Pharma Services where he served as president, will join the company May 2. Biovail is developing pharmaceutical products using advanced drug-delivery technologies.

• The Critical Path Institute (C-Path; Tucson, Arizona) has appointed Ellen Feigal, MD, a cancer researcher, to the position of director of medical devices and imaging. Feigal is on sabbatical from Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), where she was recruited from the National Cancer Institute in 2004 as TGen's vice president of clinical sciences and deputy scientific director. C-Path has signed a letter of intent with TGen that will lead to a formal inter-institutional relationship. C-Path is a publicly funded non-profit research and education institute formed to facilitate collaboration among its founding partners, the FDA, the University of Arizona and SRI International.

• Sam Humphries has been named president and CEO of HealthTronics (Austin, Texas), which provides healthcare services primarily to the urology community and manufactures medical devices. Humphries will also serve as a member of the HealthTronics' board. Humphries recently resigned as president and CEO of Uroplasty (Minneapolis), but will continue to serve on Uroplasty's board. John Barnidge, who was serving in an additional capacity as HealthTronics' interim president and CEO, will continue in his role as senior vice president and CFO. Uroplasty Chairman Daniel Holman will act as interim president and CEO during that company's search for Humphries' successor. Uroplasty manufactures products for the treatment of voiding dysfunctions.

• Kenneth Ferry will join iCAD (Nashua, New Hampshire) on May 15 as president, CEO and a member of iCAD's board. The company's current CEO and president, W. Scott Parr, has been appointed non-executive vice chairman of the board of iCAD. Ferry was most recently senior vice president and general manager for the Global Patient Monitoring business for Philips Medical Systems. iCAD is a provider of computer-aided detection solutions that enable healthcare professionals to identify cancer and other life-threatening conditions earlier.

• Ronald Nall has been appointed executive vice president and chief information officer of MEDecision (Wayne, Pennsylvania), replacing Claire Annechini, who recently retired. Most recently Nall was a product management and customer support services consultant. Previously, he was executive vice president of services and product delivery for SynQuest. The company also reported the promotions of several key executives: Terry Beck, vice president, sales; Mary Boyle, vice president, product management; David Comiciotto, vice president, corporate quality; Tracey Costello, vice president, corporate marketing; Dennis Johnson, vice president, finance; Danielle Russella, executive vice president, sales; Kristel Schimmoller, senior vice president, product marketing; and Mary Jo Timlin-Hoag, senior vice president, client operations. MEDecision focuses on delivering collaborative care management solutions, both on its own and through its CollaboraCare Consortium, which now includes 15 member vendors that address information deficiencies in healthcare delivery.
