• Bruker AXS (Madison, Wisconsin) reported the promotions of Dr. Frank Burgaezy, PhD; Roger Durst, PhD; and Bernard Kolodziej to executive vice presidents. Burgaezy now leads the Bruker AXS X-ray diffraction (XRD) business and its X-ray fluorescence business, and has global responsibility for marketing at Bruker AXS. He is based in Karlsruhe, Germany, and has been the global XRD business manager since September 2002. Durst now leads the Bruker AXS X-ray single crystal diffraction business, and as chief technology officer heads global R&D. Durst is based in Madison and previously has managed the same functions as vice president. Kolodziej now leads the global finance function and European operations, plus many of the worldwide subsidiaries of Bruker AXS. He is based in Karlsruhe and has been vice president of finance since April 2004. Bruker AXS, a unit of Bruker BioSciences (Billerica, Massachusetts), is a developer of life science and advanced materials research tools based on X-ray technology.

Dale Olson has joined Exagen Diagnostics (Albuquerque, New Mexico) as director, finance and administration. Olson most recently was CEO of Lovelace Sandia Health System Rehabilitation Hospital. Exagen develops and says it is able to “productize” genomic markers for use in oncology, infectious disease and other indications.

Kip Hallman has been appointed executive vice president and chief strategy officer of InSight Health Services Holdings (Lake Forest, California). Hallman was president of Right Manufacturing in San Diego from 2003-2005. InSight provides diagnostic imaging and information, treatment and related management services for managed care entities, hospitals and other contractual custom-ers in 35 states.

Larry Ellberger will join the management team of PDI (Saddle River, New Jersey) as executive vice president, in the newly created post of chief administrative officer, effective Aug. 15. Following a transition period, Bernard Boyle, company CFO, will retire and then serve in a consulting capacity. Upon Boyle’s departure, Ellberger is expected to serve as CFO. Ellberger has resigned his position as a member of the PDI board. Since July 2003, Ellberger has been a principal and funding partner of HVA, a provider of advisory services to the life sciences. PDI is a sales and marketing services provider to the medical devices, biopharmaceutical and diagnostics industries.
