Joseph Marzullo has been appointed to the newly created position of sales manager, northeast region for Dunlee (Aurora, Illinois), a supplier of medical imaging components. Marzullo previously was responsible for the computed tomography business in the New England region for Siemens Medical Solutions USA. Dunlee, a division of Royal Philips Electronics, manufactures tubes for major brands of equipment, including GE, Siemens, Philips, Toshiba and Shimadzu. Dunlee also is a supplier of medical imaging components to OEM customers.

Peter Gombrich, chairman of the board of Molecular Diagnostics (Chicago), has resigned as chairman and as a director of the company. Molecular Diagnostics develops cancer-screening systems, which can be used in a laboratory or at the point of care, to assist in the detection of cancer.

Thomas Tully, president and CEO of Neothermia (Natick, Massachusetts), a developer of minimally invasive systems for diagnosing breast cancer, has reported his intention to retire, effective April 1. Tully will be succeeded by Christopher Bleck, currently executive vice president, marketing and sales. Bleck also will be elected a director. Tully, who joined the company in 2000, said he would work with Bleck and the board in transition of leadership and will be available for consultation following his retirement. Bleck was named to his current post at Neothermia in January. Previously, he served as vice president, worldwide marketing, and vice president, commercial operations, for Cytyc. Neothermia's lead product is the en-bloc biopsy system.

• Phase Forward (Waltham, Massachusetts) reported that Steve Powell, vice president and general manager, international, would assume responsibility for the company's worldwide sales function in addition to his current role directing international sales and operations. Powell has been managing Phase Forward's international sales and operations since January 1999. Jason Reynolds will become vice president of North American sales. Reynolds has been with the Phase Forward North American sales organization since 1998 and currently is director, North American sales. John Hamilton, current vice president of North American sales, will be leaving Phase Forward to pursue other interests. He will remain with the company through the end of this month to assist in the transition process. Phase Forward is a provider of integrated data management solutions for clinical trials and drug safety.

Pat Makris has joined ophthalmic device manufacturer Refractec (Irvine, California) as vice president of U.S. sales, a newly created position. Most recently, Makris served as director of sales for Guidant's Cardiac Surgery division. Refractec provides "corrective solutions for near vision" with its NearVision CK (Conductive Keratoplasty) technology.
