North American Biologicals Inc. (NABI) announced Monday thatit has been awarded a three-year, $35 million contract tosupply plasma to the pharmaceutical division of Miles Inc. ofNew Haven, Conn. The contract can be extended for three tofive additional years.
NABI of Miami will supply Miles with a minimum of $35million in source plasma and certain hyperimmune plasmasfrom 1993 to 1995. The contract will then continue through1996 at 1995 supply levels, with provisions for extending thecontracts through the year 2000. This new agreement replacesa pre-existing contract between the two companies, which wasrenewed annually and was worth about $5 million per year.
NABI (NASDAQ:NBIO) claims to be the world's largestindependent supplier of human blood plasma elements to thehealth care industry. It also supplies immune globulinproducts, as evidenced by its acquisition last fall of AbbottLaboratories' H-BIG hepatitis B immune globulin and an HIVIGAIDS product (an experimental immune globulin).
