Epitope Inc. said Wednesday that the Food and DrugAdministration has asked for more information relating to itsapplication for premarket approval of its OraSure oralspecimen collection device.

The announcement was made after the close of the stockmarket. Epitope shares (AMEX:EPT) closed down 88 cents at$22.88.

The Beaverton, Ore., company in May filed for permission tomarket OraSure for use in the detection of antibodies to theAIDS virus.

A company spokeswoman said the FDA's request had beenexpected. She said Epitope hoped to submit answers to all ofthe questions before Christmas.
