Angiodynamics Inc., of Latham, N.Y., said it has submitted a 510(k) application to the FDA for its Alphavac system, an off-circuit, multipurpose mechanical aspiration thrombectomy device for the treatment of undesirable intravascular material in the venous system and peripheral vasculature. The company expects to launch the Alphavac system in the second half of this year, pending FDA clearance.
Radnor, Pa.-based Avantor Performance Materials Inc. has inked a definitive agreement to acquire privately held Ritter GmbH, of Schwabmünchen, Germany, in an all-cash transaction with an upfront equity purchase price of approximately €890 million (US$1.06 billion). Ritter produces robotic and liquid-handling consumables, including conductive tips engineered to exacting standards, used in a variety of molecular screening and diagnostic applications.
Diasorin SpA, of Saluggia, Italy, said its board of directors unanimously approved a definitive merger agreement for Diasorin to acquire Austin-based Luminex Corp. for a price of $37 per share in an all-cash transaction. This corresponds to a total equity value of about $1.8 billion on a fully diluted basis and an enterprise value of roughly $1.8 billion. Luminex develops biological testing technologies and products with applications in diagnostics and life sciences.
Graz, Austria-based Technomed said it is distributing the Boson Rapid SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Test Card throughout Europe, following its EC certification. The COVID-19 antigen rapid test is manufactured by Mediphos Diagnostics Belux BV, of Renkum, Netherlands.
Zoll Medical Corp., of Chelmsford, Mass., has acquired Minneapolis-based Respicardia Inc., a provider of implantable neurostimulators for the treatment of moderate to severe central sleep apnea. Financial terms were not disclosed.
