The human thymus has multipotent stem cells with the capacity to maintain it

It was believed that they did not exist, but they are a reality. Scientists at the Francis Crick Institute in London have discovered stem cells in the thymus for the first time. The last organ to have its role described in humans still has properties that researchers could explore to prevent the decline of the immune system throughout life. Read More

YK-029A shows preclinical efficacy in several EGFR mutant lung cancer models

Current standard of care treatment for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) tumors harboring mutations of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene includes a wide variety of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs). There are, however, some types of NSCLC tumors, such as the ones with EGFR exon 20 insertion mutations, that have a much-limited margin of therapeutic intervention. Researchers from Suzhou Puhe Pharmaceutical Technology Co. Ltd. have reported the identification and early evaluation of a small-molecule third-generation TKI of EGFR, YK-029A, being developed as an anticancer agent. Read More

Novel antibody Ab-IPL-IL-17 limits disease progression in preclinical models of rheumatoid arthritis

The interleukin-17 (IL-17) family is involved in innate immunity regulation and plays a crucial role in inflammatory and autoimmune disorders by sustaining inflammation during the onset and progression of diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriasis or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Researchers from the University of Naples have reported on a new biological entity, Ab-IPL-IL-17, that displays potent anti-inflammatory activity in preclinical testing. Read More
