• Chris Dennis was named senior VP of sales and marketing for Angiotech Pharmaceuticals (Vancouver). Previously, Dennis was global president of Johnson & Johnson's OrthoNeutrogena company. Angiotech is a specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company.

• Ken Ouriel, MD, has joined Foundation Medical Partners (Rowayton, Connecticut) as a clinical partner. Ouriel is currently the chairman of the division of surgery at Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland). Foundation specializes in providing early-stage venture capital for healthcare technology companies.

• Richard Ames has been named senior VP, U.S. Cardiac Rhythm Management for the Sorin Group (Milan, Italy). Ames most recently was a VP at St. Jude Medical. The Sorin group makes technologies for cardiac surgery.

VNUS Medical Technologies (San Jose, California) reports the resignation of Scott Cramer, senior VP of U.S. sales, effective April 6. In addition, VNUS reported the appointment of Mark Saxton to VP of U.S. Sales, and William Franklin to VP of regulatory affairs and quality assurance. Saxton formerly was director of U.S. sales for VNUS; Franklin served as VP of operations of IsoTis OrthoBiologics. VNUS makes tools for the minimally invasive treatment of venous reflux disease.
