John McInerney has been named a vice president of Euro RSCG Life PR (New York), the healthcare public relations and marketing communications unit of Euro RSCG Worldwide , a healthcare communications network. Previously McInerney worked for Ruder Finn. Euro RSCG Life PR develops integrated communications solutions, its clients ranging from large pharmaceutical companies to mid-size and emerging healthcare and medical concerns.

Dino Alfano, corporate vice president and president of the Iris Diagnostics Business Unit for Iris International (Chatsworth, California), is no longer with the company, Iris said. The company bills itself a leader in automated urinalysis technology with systems in major medical institutions throughout the world.

• NuVasive (San Diego) reported several senior management promotions and said Alexis Lukianov will continue in his role as CEO and chairman. The promotions include: Keith Valentine to president and chief operating Officer; Patrick Miles to executive VP of marketing and development; Jason Hannon to senior VP and general counsel; G. Bryan Cornwall, PhD, to VP of research and clinical resources. The company also reported several additional management promotions to be effective in 2007. These promotions are: Lisa Brockman, vice president of accounting; Rich Mueller, group director of implants; David Ivanko, director of quality; and Troy Woolley, director of access. NuVasive develops products for minimally disruptive surgical treatments for the spine.

Randy Thurman, president/CEO and chairman of Viasys Healthcare (Conshohocken, Pennsylvania), has signed a new employment agreement with the company. Thurman will continue to serve in the position for an initial term through 2009. Viasys also named Ed Pulwar as executive VP, chief operating officer; Greg Martin to group president, International Operations; and Arie Cohen as group president, Respiratory Care. Viasys develops respiratory, neurology, medical disposable and orthopedic products.
