• Abiomed (Danvers, Massachusetts) has named Jim Dillon vice president, Eastern U.S. sales, and Geoffrey Heldoorn vice president, Western U.S. sales. Both previously were with VNUS Medical Technologies, where Dillon was Eastern regional sales director and Heldoorn was Western regional sales director. Dillon had earlier been with three other companies focused in part or entirely on cardiology: Perclose, Heart Technologies and Devices for Vascular Intervention. Heldoorn previously was with Datascope, B. Braun Cardiovascular and Codman and Shurtleff, a Johnson & Johnson company. The device markets he was focused on were Abiomed is a manufacturer of products designed to assist or replace the pumping function of the failing heart.

Kevin Quinlan has been named CFO of Anika Therapeutics (Woburn, Massachusetts). Quinlan, a certified public accountant, joins the company from Boston Biomedica, where he most recently served as president of its BBI Diagnostics division. Anika Therapeutics develops hyaluronic acid-based therapeutic products and devices intended to promote the repair, protection and healing of bone, cartilage and soft tissue.
