Entellus Medical buying Spirox to strengthen its ENT platform

Minimally invasive ENT firm Plymouth, Minn.-based Entellus Medical Inc. has agreed to purchase Spirox Inc., of Menlo Park, Calif., for $25 million cash and 3.4 million shares. Four years of contingent payments will be made to Spirox based on revenue, mainly expected from its Latera absorbable implant for nasal obstruction.

Konica Minolta buying Ambry Genetics for $1B

Konica Minolta Inc. acquired Ambry Genetics Corp. in $1 billion deal aimed at building a precision medicine platform. Konica, headquartered in Tokyo, will pay $800 million at close of the deal, and $200 million over the next two years if financial milestones are met. Innovation Network Corp. of Japan also helped to fund the purchase.

Edwards wins FDA approval for resilient heart valve device

Diabetes data management company Glooko closed a series C funding round with $35 million in financing, led by Georgian Partners. The Mountain View, Calif., company plans to use the funding to continue growth, including internationally, and invest in analytics. Georgian Partners, of Toronto, invests in machine learning and applied analytics. Additional investors new to this round are the Mayo Clinic and Insulet Corp. Returning investors include Canaan Partners, Social Capital, Medtronic and Samsung Next. Expansion, commercialization with funding Glooko plans to expand its commercialization efforts in Germany, France, the U.K., Asia and the Middle East....
