Veracyte Inc. revealed plans to buy C2i Genomics Inc. at the J.P. Morgan Health Care Conference in San Francisco on Jan. 8, a move that will significantly expand its portfolio of cancer diagnostic and monitoring assays. The terms include $70 million in Veracyte shares to be paid at closing plus an addition $25 million payable in cash or Veracyte shares over the next two years if C2i achieves certain performance milestones.
Aggressive prostate cancer disproportionately affects—and kills—African American men, but identifying which men are at highest-risk has proved challenging, particularly in younger patients. Veracyte Inc. has agreed to acquire Haliodx SAS in a €260 million (US$318.1 million) deal to accelerate growth and strengthen its global footprint in cancer diagnostics. Genomic testing firm Veracyte Inc., of South San Francisco, has inked a definitive agreement with Seattle-based Nanostring Technologies Inc. for the global rights to Nanostring’s Ncounter platform. The deal – for $50 million in cash and Veracyte stock, plus up to $10 million in potential milestone payments – will allow Veracyte to develop and commercialize diagnostic tests on Nanostring’s Ncounter Flex system.
Genomic testing firm Veracyte Inc. is eyeing 2021 for the launch of its noninvasive nasal swab classifier for early lung cancer detection and diagnosis, following preliminary clinical data demonstrating high sensitivity in low-risk patients and high specificity in high-risk patients with known lung nodules. The South San Francisco-based company is developing the nasal swab test in collaboration with Johnson & Johnson Inc.'s Lung Cancer Initiative, part of a long-term strategic collaboration that also aims to speed commercialization of Veracyte's Percepta genomic sequencing classifier.
