Xeltis BV secured €47.5 million in financing to help bring Axess, its vascular access conduit for hemodialysis, to the market. The funds include a venture debt package of up to €37.5 million from the European Investment Bank and €10 million from existing shareholders.

Xeltis BV hopes that promising data from clinical trials on the performance of its synthetic vascular access graft implant will transform not only the lives of patients suffering from chronic kidney disease but also the company’s fortunes. “We're outperforming other solutions out there, that's the nice promise not only for the patient and for the families but also for potential strategics that might be interested in the company and play a role in the vascular space,” Eliane Schutte, CEO of Xeltis told BioWorld.
Onera Technologies BV raised €30 million (US$32.7 million) in a series C funding round that will allow the company to accelerate the manufacturing and deployment of its patch-based sleep test system. The funds will also go towards concluding the development of the company’s second-generation polysomnography (PSG) system.
Thirona BV has been awarded $2.73 million in funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) to fast-track the development of its artificial intelligence (AI)-based lung platform to analyze chest CT imaging. In competition with 554 other submissions, Thirona was one of 51 innovative technology companies awarded the EIC accelerator program grant, the total budget for which is €261 million (US$286.28 million) in 2023.
