Mycogen Corp., which develops pest control products foragriculture, said Thursday it has formed a newsubsidiary that will develop products to control pests thatthreaten human and animal health.

The new company, Parasitix Corp., will be run by newlyappointed President Charles Dumbrell out of Mycogen's(NASDAQ:MYCO) San Diego facility. "There are some ratherspecific niches involving endo- and ectoparasiticides which willhave a commercial niche," Dumbrell said.

Parasitix will be working on products for fighting poultrydiseases, tape worms and domestic house flies, he said.Dumbrell said there would be from two to three years ofresearch before any products are ready to begin the approvalprocess. He also said it was too early to estimate the potentialmarket for these products.
