Mycogen Corp. announced Wednesday that its Parasitixsubsidiary has signed a 10-year agreement with Schering-Plough Animal Health to market poultry pest-control products.

Parasitix and Schering-Plough Animal Health, a division ofSchering-Plough Corp., also will collaborate on development ofproducts for poultry and other animal-health markets.Schering-Plough will market Parasitix's SafeCide line ofproducts in the U.S. and Canada.

The U.S. market to control the lesser mealworm alone is morethan $20 million per year, said Mike Sund, corporatecommunications director for Mycogen of San Diego. He said themarketing agreement allows Mycogen to apply technology thatwas developed for crop protection.

Parasitix, a wholly owned Mycogen subsidiary, was formed topursue applications in animal health.
