Bioject (NASDAQ:BJCTF)manufactures and markets a system to inject medicationthrough the skin without a needle.

Dr. Howard S. Jaffe has joined Gilead Sciences Inc. as vicepresident for clinical affairs. He was director of clinical researchand cytokine project leader for Genentech Inc. Gilead of FosterCity, Calif., is developing pharmaceuticals based on nucleotides.

Biogen Inc. (NASDAQ:BGEN) has promoted James C. Mullen fromsenior director to vice president of operations. The Cambridge,Mass., company also appointed Amy D. Seltzer director ofinvestor relations.

Cephalon Inc. of West Chester, Pa., has promoted Peter Grebowfrom director to vice president of drug development. Cephalon(NASDAQ:CEPH) is developing therapeutic products for strokeand neurodegenerative disorders.

Pedro Cuatrecasas has been elected to the board of Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. (NASDAQ:PHYB). The Des Moines, Iowa,company develops and markets hybrid and pure-line seeds,and microbial inoculants for crops and livestock.

Monica S. Krieger, Ph.D., has been named vice president ofregulatory affairs and reagent quality assurance at MicroProbeCorp. She was vice president of regulatory and clinical affairs atSanofi Diagnostics Pasteur Genetic Systems. Doctors Roy Page,professor at the schools of medicine and dentistry at theUniversity of Washington, and Kenneth L. Melmon, formerpresident of the department of medicine at StanfordUniversity, recently were appointed to the board.
