Total med-tech financings reached $8.54 billion in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, reflecting a modest pullback from $9.33 billion in the same period of 2025 but remaining well above previous years. The Q1 2026 total exceeds the $6.45 billion recorded in Q1 2024 and $4.69 billion in Q1 2023, signaling continued recovery from the post-2021 downturn.

Med-tech financings totaled $6.08 billion in the first two months of 2026, slightly below the $6.31 billion raised in January to February 2025, a year-over-year decline of about 4%. Even so, the early 2026 total remains well above the openings seen in 2020 ($5.61 billion), 2022 ($4.36 billion), 2023 ($1.67 billion) and 2024 ($4.66 billion).

Med-tech financing activity rebounded sharply in 2025, with total reported capital raised climbing to $39.55 billion, nearly doubling from $25.35 billion in 2024 and approaching pre-pandemic norms. The increase was driven largely by a surge in IPO activity, which reached $13.01 billion. In December, financing value reached $8.23 billion across 36 transactions, up from $4.73 billion in November.

Med-tech financing activity from January through November 2025 reached $31.32 billion, marking a strong rebound from the sector’s lows in 2023 to 2024, which saw $16.61 billion and $23.64 billion in the same period, respectively. While still far below the capital inflows seen in 2020 and 2021, when the first 11 months of the year exceeded $48 billion, the steady upward progression over recent years suggests renewed investor engagement and improving capital availability. In November, $4.73 billion was collected through 36 transactions, up from $3.25 billion in October.

Med-tech financings with disclosed valuations from January through October 2025 totaled $26.58 billion, nearly matching 2022’s $26.83 billion and marking a continued recovery from the sector’s 2023 low of $15.59 billion. The data suggest renewed investor confidence in med-tech, with capital flows shifting back toward public markets after two years of restrained activity.

Med-tech financings with publicly reported values totaled $23.2 billion in the first three quarters of 2025, marking an improvement over 2023 and 2024. The rebound was driven by a resurgence in IPOs and solid private financings, while follow-on offerings lagged compared to historical averages.

Med-tech financings reached $20.21 billion in the first eight months of 2025, on par with the same period last year ($20.26 billion) and showing a strong recovery from the sector’s recent low in 2023 ($13.71 billion). The 2025 total is still well below the record-setting levels of 2020 ($41.83 billion) and 2021 ($38.72 billion).

Med-tech companies brought in $18.11 billion through financings in the first seven months of 2025, marking a modest rebound from the sector’s recent lows. The total surpasses the $11.73 billion raised during the same period in 2023 and slightly edged out the $16.59 billion raised in the same period in 2024.

The med-tech sector raised $16.46 billion in the first half of 2025, an 18% increase over the $13.94 billion raised during the same period in 2024.
