Initiate Systems (Chicago) a provider of data management solutions for information sharing and improved data quality, has acquired Accenx Technologies (Irvine, California), a provider of health information exchange solutions. This acquisition furthers Initiate's growth strategy and expands its offerings in the healthcare market, the company said. The terms of the deal are confidential.

By acquiring Accenx, Initiate said it expands the breadth and reach of its proven interoperable health solutions, enabling a broader set of healthcare stakeholders to connect and share information as market dynamics require greater focus on establishing well integrated healthcare communities.

"The debates over healthcare IT adoption and payment reform have validated that healthcare communities that master information sharing realize improved outcomes at lower costs," said Bill Conroy, president/CEO, Initiate. "EHR is the buzzword of The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, but what electronic health records offer is potential for interoperability. This requires information sharing within and between EHRs."
