Nihon Kohden America (Foothill Ranch, California), which describes itself as “the fastest growing monitoring company in the U.S.,” reported the signing to integrate SET (Signal Extraction Technology) from Masimo (Irvine, California) into its line of bedside and patient monitoring products.

Masimo SET pulse oximetry is a method of acquiring, processing and reporting arterial oxygen saturation and pulse rate. Combining proprietary signal processing algorithms with advanced sensor design, SET pulse oximetry enables adaptive filters to work in real time to accurately report changes in human physiology.

Masimo says that SET SpO2 technology has been proven to read through motion and low perfusion at a high level of accuracy, studies showing improved patient outcomes.

Nihon Kohden said it is known for its line of patient monitoring products, including Smart Modular Cable and sensor miniaturization technology, wireless network systems and remote access monitoring.

In other agreements news:

• GoldenGate Software (San Francisco), a provider of transactional data management solutions, and Eclipsys (Boca Raton, Florida) reported their intent to enter into a reseller agreement allowing Eclipsys to offer GoldenGate’s solutions for high availability and real-time reporting to healthcare organizations using Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager.

The announcement was made at the Eclipsys User Network annual conference in Las Vegas.

“In a clinical environment, it is absolutely critical to limit the amount of application down time,” said John Gomez, Eclipsys chief technology strategy officer. “[W]e look forward to working with GoldenGate on executing our plan to deliver database capabilities with high availability and real-time reporting requirements for Sunrise Clinical Manager.”

• Draeger Medical (Telford, Pennsylvania) reported the conversion and implementation of the Innovian Anesthesia information management system at Duke University Health System (Durham, North Carolina) in more than 150 point-of-care locations.

Draeger said thatthe implementation represents the largest upgrade in its history and the most extensive Innovian installation worldwide.

Innovian Anesthesia automatically records pre-, intra- and post-operative data to enable caregivers to focus less on paperwork in order to help improve patient care.

Innovian Anesthesia is integrated with Duke’s ORview portal and web-application suite.

• Delta Health Technologies (Altoona, Pennsylvania) reported a strategic partnership and distribution agreement with CellTrak (Schaumburg, Illinois) allowing Delta customers to transmit clinical data via their cell phones, eliminating paper in the home care setting.

Delta will make the CellTrak product immediately available to its customers, integrating the product with its software.
