Precision Dynamics (PDC; San Fernando, California) reported that Novation, the supply company of VHA, (Irving, Texas) and the University HealthSystem Consortium (Oak Brook, Illinois), has signed a dual-source contract to provide members access to PDC labor and delivery products, including amniotic membrane perforators, umbilical cord clamps and baby footprinters.

The contract, taking effect March 1, will run through February 2008.

PDC said it has a separate agreement with Novation for its automatic wristband identification product.

The company said it introduced the first patient Bar Code ID Wristband System in 1984, the Smart Band Radio Frequency Identification Wristband System in 2000, and the “AgeBand” Electronic Age/ID Verification System in 2004.

PDC also provides products for labor & delivery, urology and other applications.

SmartPACS/INFINITT (Phillipsburg, New Jersey) reported the signing of picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) installation contracts with four U.S. healthcare facilities. Those facilities include Midway Hospital Medical Center (Los Angeles), Centinella Freeman Regional Medical Center (Inglewood, California), the Brooklyn Hospital Center (Brooklyn, New York); and Hunterdon Radiology Association (Flemington, New Jersey).

The six-year contracts are valued at $14 million and mark the company’s expansion to the West Coast.

All four contracts were sold based on SmartPACS’ Electronic Image Management Solutions financial program.
