A Medical Device Daily

Draeger Medical (Luebeck, Germany) said it plans to consolidate its medical monitoring device and information technology (IT) manufacturing currently based in Danvers, Massachusetts, into its facility located in Telford, Pennsylvania.

The manufacturing of all Draeger Medical monitoring and IT products will be moved to Telford from the current location in Danvers as of Aug. 15. However, Draeger Medical said the headquarters of its Monitoring & IT Business Unit will remain in Danvers, "due to the high concentration of clinical and research excellence in the Boston area."

As previously reported, Draeger Medical also is in the process of relocating all of its perinatal care activities from Hatboro, Pennsylvania, to Telford, a move that is expected to be completed by the end of January 2006.

The company said that with the consolidation of the Hatboro operations and Danvers manufacturing in Telford, it is bringing together all of its U.S.-based manufacturing (perinatal care, perioperative care, and monitoring & IT) in one centralized location.

Dr. Wolfgang Reim, president and CEO of Draeger Medical, said, "We are gearing up to make an impact in the U.S. market through integration. By concentrating all manufacturing at our facility in Telford, we will realize greater synergies and efficiencies, streamline logistics and supply chain management, and simplify order fulfillment processes. Overall, our customers will benefit from greater flexibility and responsiveness."

Draeger Medical is the largest division of Draeger-werk AG and a 65/35 joint venture company between Draegerwerk and Siemens (Munich, Germany). The company offers products, services and integrated CareArea solutions throughout the patient care process, including emergency care, perioperative care, critical care, perinatal care and home care. It employs nearly 6,000 people worldwide.
