David J. Gury, president and chief operating officer of NorthAmerican Biologicals Inc., has been named chief executiveofficer. The Miami company (NASDAQ:NBIO) provides humanblood plasma elements to the health care industry.

Oncor Inc. has named David Ledbetter vice president ofmolecular cytogenetics. He was director of the KlebergCytogenetics Laboratory and co-director of the Baylor HumanGenome Center. The Gaithersburg, Md., company(NASDAQ:ONCR) manufactures and develops technologies andreagents for diagnostic applications in genetic diseases andcancer.

Idec Pharmaceuticals Corp. has promoted Kenneth J. Woolcottto general counsel from deputy general counsel. The La Jolla,Calif., company (NASDAQ:IDPH) is developing immunologicallyactive monoclonal antibodies.

Allelix Biopharmaceuticals Inc. has named David Bichandirector of regulatory and clinical affairs. He was director ofmedical affairs at Ortho-McNeil Inc. Allelix (TSE:AXB) ofToronto focuses on the development of products for tissuerepair, and immunological and inflammatory diseases.

Graham Durant, a co-inventor of Tagamet, has been namedsenior director of medicinal chemistry at CambridgeNeuroScience Inc. of Cambridge, Mass. The company(NASDAQ:CNSI) is developing products to treat neurological andpsychiatric disorders.

Cephalon Inc. of West Chester, Pa., has named Robert Raskindirector of medical affairs. Raskin was director of CNS medicalaffairs and clinical development at SmithKline Beecham Corp.The company also named Shirley M. Tilghman to its scienceadvisory board. Tilghman is the Howard A. Prior Professor inthe Life Sciences and an investigator of the Howard HughesMedical Institute at Princeton University. Cephalon(NASDAQ:CEPH) focuses on treatments for stroke andneurodegenerative disorders.

The Liposome Co. Inc. of Princeton, N.J., appointed Charles L.Williams executive director for manufacturing. Williams wasdirector of manufacturing for Genetics Institute Inc. Thecompany also named to its board Robert F. Hendrickson,formerly senior vice president of manufacturing andtechnology for Merck & Co. Inc. The Liposome Co. (NASDAQ:LIPO) is developing liposome and lipid-based pharmaceuticals.

Douglas Rogers has joined investment banker Cowen & Co. as amanaging director, head of health care banking. He wasmanaging director for the investment banking firm of BaringBrothers & Co. Cowen also promoted special limited partnerNancy Crowell to managing director of West Coast health carebanking in San Francisco. Cowen also named Richard Gumer aspecial limited partner in its New York office and said NorbertConsidine, a vice president in the Boston office, will focusexclusively on health care banking.
