Dr. Thomas J. McKearn has been appointed president of CytogenCorp. McKearn, who founded the company in 1981 and had beenexecutive vice president, will manage day-to-day operations.George W. Ebright will remain chairman and chief executiveofficer. Cytogen has also appointed James H. Geddes to thenewly created position of group vice president, withresponsibilities for marketing, sales, business developmentand strategic planning. Geddes was previously vice presidentof marketing and sales for Centocor Inc.

David Carter has been named chief executive officer ofSomatix Therapy Corp. He will retain his duties as chairman,which he assumed in March when the company was formed bythe merger of Hana Biologics Inc. and Somatix Corp. SomatixTherapy (NASDAQ:SOMA) of Alameda, Calif., is focused on genetherapy.
Dr. Alexander G. Bearn has been elected to the board at BiogenInc. (NASDAQ:BGEN) of Cambridge, Mass. Bearn is visitingphysician, adjunct professor and trustee at the RockefellerUniversity in New York. He is also on the scientific board ofthe biopharmaceutical company.
Synergen Inc. of Boulder, Colo., has elected Barry MacTaggartto its board. MacTaggart recently retired as chairman andpresident of Pfizer International. Synergen (NASDAQ:SYGN) isdeveloping products to treat inflammatory diseases, chronicskin ulcers and neurological disorders.
The Salk Institute Biotechnology/Industrial Associates Inc.(SIBIA) has elected William R. Miller as a director. Miller isformer Bristol-Myers Squibb director and vice chairman. SIBIAis developing diagnostic and therapeutic products forneurodegenerative conditions.
