The deadline for Federal Trade Commission review of theproposed merger of Chiron Corp. and Cetus Corp. passedwithout any request for additional information from theagency, the companies said Thursday.

The deadline for the review under the Hart-Scott-RodinoAntitrust Improvements Act expired Wednesday.

Cetus on Thursday also announced that the proposed sale of itspolymerase chain reaction technology to F. Hoffmann-La Rochehad cleared a second review, this one by the Committee onForeign Investment in the United States. The FTC review periodon the PCR sale, which is required by the Chiron-Cetus mergeragreement, expired Sept. 20.
