Investors in Cathvision ApS are backing the company with an additional $7.2 million to accelerate U.S. commercialization of its electrophysiology (EP) recording system, Ecgenius. The ECG support technology is designed to detect cardiac electrograms with minimal baseline noise so electrophysiologists can accurately interpret complex arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (AF). In May, the U.S. FDA granted the Copenhagen-based company 510(k) clearance for the system.

Monod Bio Inc. raised a $25 million seed financing round to advance its protein-based biosensor technology. The round was led by Matrix Capital, with participation from the Global Health Investment Corp., Cercano Management, the Washington Research Foundation, Boom Capital Ventures, Sahsen Ventures, and Pack Ventures. The funds will be used to create protein biosensors for rapid point-of-care medical diagnostics and biotechnology applications.
Ophthalmic and microsurgery device maker Carl Zeiss Meditec AG is investing in regenerative medicine startup Precise Bio Ltd. to jointly develop 4D bio-fabricated corneal transplants for diseases that require endothelial keratoplasty and natural lenticule transplants. Under the terms of the agreement, Carl Zeiss Meditec will lead a series B financing round in Precise Bio and fund development of two cornea transplant products.

Microtransponder Inc. raked in $53 million in an oversubscribed series E round that exceeded its best previous fundraising by nearly 500% and brought the company’s total funds raised to date to $93 million. The new money will be used to commercialize the Vivistim paired VNS system, which received premarket approval in 2021 as what the FDA called the “first stroke rehabilitation option using vagus nerve stimulation.”
Healthquest Capital Management Co. LLC closed its oversubscribed fourth fund at its hard cap of $675 million, positioning the equity firm to ramp up its investment at the “convergent points between medical technologies, diagnostics/tools, digital health and innovative services,” the company said.
Acutus Medical Inc. is selling its left-heart access portfolio to Medtronic plc in a deal worth upwards of $50 million. The portfolio of devices includes a line of sheath-compatible septal crossing devices and steerable sheaths. Under the terms of the agreement, Medtronic will make an upfront cash payment to Acutus of $50 million and additional undisclosed payments based on milestones and future sales.
