Brainomix Ltd. reported the publication of a prospective real-world study demonstrating that its AI imaging platform, Brainomix 360 Stroke, significantly increased rates of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) treatment, a minimally invasive surgical procedure for patients with large vessel occlusion stroke, and reduced delays in patient triage and transfer.
Brainomix Ltd. raised £14 million ($18 million) in a series C financing round to expand its AI-powered imaging solution, Brainomix 360 Stroke, into the U.S. market. Funds will also go towards advancing the Brainomix 360 E-Lung, which can accurately predict the progression of lung fibrosis. “This series C round is a vital fundraise for us,” Michalis Papadakis, CEO and co-founder of Brainomix, told BioWorld. “We are in a growth stage where we want to bring this next generation of stroke AI into the U.S. market.”
To date, developers of digital health technologies have had little luck with coverage and reimbursement, but the picture is slowly improving. The U.K.’s National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has endorsed two artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms for diagnosis of stroke, although this is limited to an evidence generation framework that puts the sponsors on the hook for generating the data that will allow unlimited use in the U.K.’s trusts.
Rapidai Inc. landed $75 million in a series C financing led by Vista Credit Partners. The funds will be used to fuel development of additional indications and expand market reach of its artificial intelligence (AI)-powered clinical decisionmaking and workflow support technology. With this latest round, the San Mateo, Calif.-based company has raised approximately $100 million, according to Crunchbase.
The U.K. government created a new £21 million ($US26.55 million) fund to accelerate the roll out of artificial intelligence (AI) diagnostics and treatment tools across the NHS. The AI Diagnostic Fund will enable hospitals to bid for funding to speed up the deployment of the most promising AI imaging and decision support tools to help patients with cancers, strokes and heart conditions.

Powered by explainable AI, the Brainomix 360 E-aspects tool, which is already CE-marked, assesses non-contrast CT scans to automatically generate a score and measures the volume of ischemic signs. It also features an overlaid heatmap to visually assist clinicians when treating stroke patients.
