WASHINGTON – Boston Scientific Inc., of Marlborough, Mass., has released a bolus of registry data for the company's Watchman device for closure of the left atrial appendage, data that demonstrate solid numbers for the device in terms of procedural performance. Despite the good news, Vivek Reddy, of Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, said one change he would like to see in the device is some means of suppressing the formation of thrombus on the device face, which he described as a low-rate occurrence that more often than not triggers a stroke.
