Cogent Healthcare (Brentwood, Tennessee) has acquired Endion Hospitalist Systems (Orchard Park, New York), the largest provider of hospitalist solutions in Western New York. The transaction was completed effective Dec. 1, 2010.

Since 2006, Endion has deployed a proven hospital medicine model that is highly-regarded for providing exceptional patient care and delivering measurable quality and financial results. Endion today employs more than 70 providers, who serve nine area hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in western New York.

“Cogent and Endion are built on a foundation of strong physicians, practice management support and leadership. Both organizations have distinguished themselves by delivering quality care to patients and great value to clinicians and hospitals,“ said Gene Fleming, CEO of Cogent.

In other dealmaking activity, Verge Solutions (Mount Pleasant, South Carolina) has incorporated the operations of Peminic (Lees Summit, Montana) with its own.

Terms of the transaction, which the companies completed Dec. 6, were not disclosed.

“Verge Solutions has built its business on great software and even better customer support,“ said Jon Piebenga, Managing Partner of Verge Solutions. “Integrating Peminic's patient safety, claims management, and patient relations solutions into Verge's software platform will allow us to expand the quality, regulatory and medical staff management services we offer clients.“

The new merged company said customer service and satisfaction remain the number one priority of the business. Combining solutions on one platform allows clients a single contact for all support and customization, in addition to one login access for all software.
