At Medica, Welch Allyn introduced a new product line of four medical exam lights that switch from halogen lamps to energy-efficient light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
Called the Green Series, the new lights are rated for 50,000 hours of life, eliminating bulb replacement and lowering the cost of ownership, while offering a superior white, bright light with superior lumen performance.
The new suite of medical exam lights, which will be available in January 2010 in the U.S., cover applications across the healthcare setting from private practice to surgical centers and include the GS Exam Light IV, the GS 300 General Exam Light, the GS 600 Minor Procedure Light and the GS 900 Procedure Light.
The white LEDs provide true tissue color rendition and a uniform spot with no dark or hot spots.
The heat generation typical of halogen lights has also been eliminated leading to greater patient comfort and safety.
The Green Series is equipped with a touchless switch for on/off and intensity control so that a gloved hand waved less than two inches from the control can control lighting, reducing the risk of infection.
