Timothy Pratt has been named general counsel of Boston Scientific (Natick, Massachusetts). Pratt previously spent 31 years with the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon (Kansas City). Boston Scientific makes interventional medical specialties.

Robert Palmisano has been named president/CEO of ev3 (Plymouth, Minnesota). Palmisano most recently was president/CEO of IntraLase. ev3 manufactures endovascular devices. Palmisano replaces James Corbett who resigned Monday for undisclosed reasons.

• H.I.G. Ventures (Miami) reported the addition of Michael Gutch, PhD, to its life sciences investment team. Previously Gutch was a principal with Lilly Ventures. H.I.G. Ventures works with entrepreneurs to develop capital and business expertise and partnering relationships.

• Stereotaxis (St. Louis) reported two additions to its senior management team. Kevin Shifrin, most recently VP of global marketing for the Peripheral Vascular Division of C.R. Bard, was appointed senior VP of global marketing and business development. Magnus Holm, most recently VP at Biosense Webster Europe Middle East & Africa, was appointed new GM for Europe.
