• Lars Lonn, MD, has been named clinical director for Mentice (Gothenburg, Sweden). Lonn is an interventional radiologist, a leading European professor within the field of endovascular surgery and a faculty member of Rigshospital Health Sciences (Copenhagen). Mentice makes virtual reality based training applications within the field of medicine.
• William Conroy has been appointed VP of operations and engineering for MFIC (Newton, Massachusetts). Most recently, Conroy was senior VP of production and operations at RemoteReality. MFIC, through its Microfluidics division, makes Microfluidizer materials processing and formulation equipment to the biotech, pharma, chemical, cosmetics/personal care and food industries.
• PolyRemedy (Mountain View, California) has named Diane Cooper, PhD, as medical director and chief of clinical affairs and Joe Coyne as VP of solution delivery and information technology. Cooper previously was the worldwide medical director for Johnson & Johnson Ethicon Wound Management. Coyne most recently was VP of information systems and CIO for Omnicell. PolyRemedy makes point-of-care, robotic systems for the fabrication and tracking of customized nano-material-based wound treatments.
• Karolee Sowle has been promoted from interim CEO to CEO of the Desert Regional Medical Center (Palm Springs, California), a Tenet Healthcare (Dallas) hospital. Sowle has been serving as interim CEO since November 2006. Tenet, through its subsidiaries, owns and operates acute care hospitals and related healthcare services.
