• Meridian Bioscience (Cincinnati) reported that its board of directors has named Jack Kraeutler CEO. Kraeutler joined the company in January 1992 as executive VP and COO. In July 1992, Kraeutler was named president/COO of the company. Additionally, Bill Motto was named executive chairman. Motto founded Meridian and held the title of chairman and CEO. Before forming Meridian, Motto served in various capacities at Wampole Laboratories. Motto has been chairman of the company since 1977. Meridian makes diagnostic test kits, purified reagents, and related products, and offers biopharmaceutical-enabling technologies.

• Molecular Biometrics (Chester, New Jersey) reported that Denny Sakkas, PhD, associate professor, Yale University School of Medicine, and director of the embryology laboratory at Yale Fertility Center, has joined the company as chief scientific officer. Molecular Biometrics is a private company developing diagnostic tools for characterizing biologic function in health and disease.
