• Candela (Wayland, Massachusetts) reported the release of the Serenity Pro system. The system provides users with automatic contact sensing technology with single touch laser activation. The Serenity Pro system relies on pneumatic skin flattening (PSF) to inhibit pain during laser or light-based aesthetic treatments. Candela received the FDA clearance for the Serenity device using the PSF technology for pain reduction in October 2007. Candela makes products to treat selected cosmetic and medical conditions using lasers, aesthetic laser systems, and other advanced technologies.
