• ConforMIS (Burlington, Massachusetts) said that founder/chairman Philipp Lang, MD, was named CEO, and Patrick Hess, PhD, was named senior VP of West Coast operations. Hess recently stepped aside as CEO of ConforMIS in order to recover from treatment for prostate cancer, and will assume his new position in the company’s Redwood City, California, office. Lang previously was director of the musculoskeletal radiology division and Weissman Chair at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. ConforMIS is a privately held company that makes minimally invasive medical devices for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint damage.

Todd Huffman, PhD, has joined Research Corporation Technologies (RCT; Tucson, Arizona) as an analyst. Before joining RCT, Huffman was a technology development associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. RCT is a technology investment and management company that provides early-stage funding and development for promising biomedical companies and technologies.

John Schellhorn was named CEO of Softscope Medical Technologies (Minnetonka, Minnesota). Schellhorn previously was VP of sales and marketing at ev3. Softscope is an early stage company specializing in technology to improve endoscopic procedures.

Clint Carnell has been promoted from VP of U.S. sales to COO of Thermage (Hayward, California). Thermage specializes in non-invasive tissue tightening in the aesthetic industry.
