Scott Blood was named VP of quality assurance and regulatory affairs at Candela (Wayland, Massachusetts). Most recently, Blood was VP of manufacturing and quality at InfraReDx. Candela makes lasers, aesthetic laser systems, and other advanced technologies.

Andrea Epstein was named executive director of CureDuchenne (Corona Del Mar, California). Epstein formerly was president of Andrea Epstein Communications. CureDuchenne is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding and funding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

• Cardinal Health (Dublin, Ohio) reported that George Barrett, CEO of Teva North America, will join the company as vice chairman of Cardinal Health and CEO of its Healthcare Supply Chain Services sector. Barrett served as corporate executive VP of Teva’s global pharmaceutical markets since January 2007, as well as CEO of Teva North America since January 2005.

Michael Clark was named market president of Delta Dental of Ohio (Columbus, Ohio). Prior to that Clark was president/CEO of Delta Dental of Kansas (Wichita). Delta Dental of Ohio, with its affiliates in Michigan, Indiana and Tennessee, make up one of the largest dental plan administrators in the nation.

• IgeaCare Systems (Toronto) said it has appointed Pramod Gaur as president, Healthanywhere, a division of IgeaCare Systems. Prior to joining IgeaCare, Gaur was the founding president/CEO of Viterion TeleHealthcare. IgeaCare makes telephony based communication systems, with a focus on the healthcare sector.

Chris Kepley, MD, has been named to the newly created position of nanoimmunology group leader in Luna Innovations’ (Roanoke, Virginia) nanoWorks division in Danville, Virginia. Kepley was previously assistant professor with the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Luna Innovations makes products for the healthcare, telecommunications, energy and defense markets.

• Naviscan PET Systems (San Diego) reported four senior appointments signaling a major thrust to underscore its leadership in organ-specific molecular imaging. Skip Mendelson was named VP of sales; Ashok Kaul, VP of marketing; Guillaume Bailliard, VP of market development; and Christopher Matthews, PhD, VP of technology. Mendelson previously was VP of sales at R2 Technology; Kaul was VP of marketing at Bacchus Vascular, Bailliard was the Americas X-Ray sales manager for GE Healthcare; and Matthews was project director at Siemens Medical Solutions. Naviscan PET Systems makes high-resolution PET scanners that are intended to provide organ-specific imaging, guide radiological and surgical procedures.

Depti Amin, MD, was promoted to senior VP of strategic research and safety services for Quintiles Transnational (Research Triangle Park, North Carolina). Most recently, Amin was senior VP of global medical services, regulatory affairs and medical writing, and strategic drug development unit for Quintiles. Quintiles Transnational provides professional services in drug development, financial partnering and commercialization for the biotechnology and healthcare industries.

Christopher Burton was named senior VP of sales and marketing of Third Wave Technologies (Madison, Wisconsin). Burton joins the company from GE Healthcare. Third Wave makes molecular diagnostic reagents for a variety of DNA and RNA analysis applications.
