John Quigley has been named VP of marketing for Barnev (Andover, Massachusetts). Previously, Quigley was VP of marketing for Matritech. Barnev makes a continuous labor monitoring system brand-named Birth Track.

John McDonough has been named CEO of T2 Biosystems (Cambridge, Massachusetts). Most recently, McDonough was president of Cytyc Development. T2 Biosystems makes portable medical diagnostic products which combine nanotechnology and miniaturized MRI technology.

• IVAX Diagnostics (Miami) reported that Giorgio D’Urso is resigning as president/CEO and as a member of the board, effective Jan. 10. Kevin Clark, company COO since September 2007, has been named acting CEO, effective with D’Urso’s resignation until he is named permanent successor. IVAX makes diagnostic reagents, instrumentation and software.

• OraSure Technologies (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) said that Debra Fraser-Howze, current president/CEO of the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS (NBLCA), will join the company as VP of government and external affairs. Fraser-Howze has served as the president/CEO of NBLCA, an organization which she founded in 1987. OraSure makes oral fluid diagnostics.

Louis Kirby, MD, has been named chief medical officer of Provista Life Sciences (Phoenix). Previously, Kirby was the founder, medical director and CEO of Pivotal Research Centers. Provista is a diagnostic development company.
