John Kay, PhD, was named VP of engineering and development for Artes Medical (San Diego). Prior to joining Artes, Kay was chief scientific officer at IsoTis OrthoBiologics. Artes Medical makes ArteFill, a non-resorbable injectable dermal filler for the correction of nasolabial fold wrinkles.

Chad Coberly was named VP of clinical, regulatory and legal affairs of Cohera Medical (Pittsburgh). Coberly was previously VP of legal and regulatory affairs at Zassi Medical. Cohera makes wound-management systems and surgical adhesives.

Stephen Tallau was named VP of sales at DB Technology (Clark, New Jersey). Tallau previously was a sales executive at Perot Systems. DB Technology makes automated information management solutions.

Declan Daly was promoted to CEO of Isolagen (Exton, Pennsylvania). He will continue as CFO of the company. Isolagen’s technology platform includes the Isolagen Process, a cell processing system for skin and tissue rejuvenation.

John Riesenberger was named corporate VP and chief commercialization officer of MannKind (Valencia, California). Riesenberger joins MannKind from Shaw Science Partners. MannKind makes therapeutic products for diseases such as diabetes and cancer.

William Winkenwerder has joined Medical Planning Resources (MPR; East Windsor, New Jersey) as a senior executive consultant to the firm. Winkenwerder served as the assistant secretary of defense for health affairs from 2001 until 2007. Medical Planning Resources provides medical and public health planning expertise for enhancing preparedness against complex emergencies and disasters.

Hamish Cameron was named venture partner of SV Life Sciences (San Francisco) Cameron will be focused on therapeutic investments in Europe and the U.S., and will be based at the company’s London office. Prior to joining SV Life Sciences, Cameron was CEO of Cambridge Antibody Technology. SV Life Sciences is a life sciences-focused venture capital firm.

• Vigilan (Portland, Oregon) reported that Geoffrey Bunza, the company’s VP of engineering & operations, has been named by the American Health Care Association to serve a two-year term on the Health Information Technology (HIT) committee. The committee is dedicated to providing financial mechanisms to ease the burden on long-term care facilities.

• Valient Solutions (Rochester, New York) reported the formation of Valient Healthcare, a new division to serve the global healthcare industry. Allison Tait has been named manager of healthcare sector business development for Valient Healthcare, which assists clients with quantitative online surveys, qualitative focus groups, advertising effectiveness, brand equity, patient satisfaction measurement and concept development studies.
