• Applera (Foster City, California) named Mark Stevenson president/COO of its Applied Biosystems Group and a senior VP of the company. Stevenson has been executive VP of Applied Biosystems since July 2007 and has been with the company since 1998. Applied Biosystems makes instrument-based systems, consumables, software and services.
  • David Butler has been named interim CFO of Biopure. Butler most recently served as VP of finance and administration at the Millard Group. Biopure makes pharmaceuticals, called oxygen therapeutics, that are intravenously administered to deliver oxygen to the body's tissues.
  • Ali Haghighi-Mood, PhD, has been promoted to CEO of Cambridge Heart (Bedford, Massachusetts). Most recently, he has served as executive VP, COO and CTO of the company since December 2006. Cambridge Heart makes products for the non-invasive diagnosis of cardiac disease, particularly the identification of those at risk of sudden cardiac arrest.
