• Cigna (Chicago) has named Sue Podbielski as the new president/GM for its health care operations in Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Prior to joining Cigna, Podbielski was a VP for WellPoint and general manager for UniCare's large group business unit. Cigna HealthCare provides medical benefits plans, dental coverage, behavioral health coverage, pharmacy benefits and products and services that integrate and analyze information to support consumerism and health advocacy.
  • Ken Pickering has been promoted to president of Foster (Putnam, Connecticut). Since joining Foster in 2003, Pickering has held the post of VP/COO. Foster makes critical polymer compounds.
  • Steve Roberts has been named COO of HealthPort (Alpharetta, Georgia). Roberts previously was senior VP of operations at SDS. HealthPort says that it combines technology and strategic solutions to improve fragmented healthcare business processes.
  • The Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE; Indianapolis) has appointed Gregory Larkin, MD to chief medical officer. Larkin joins IHIE after retiring from Eli Lilly. IHIE, a non-profit corporation formed by the Regenstrief Institute, private hospitals, local and state health departments, BioCrossroads and other organizations in Indiana, is a provider of clinical data and services to help providers achieve high quality patient care.
  • Kinetic Concepts (KCI; San Antonio) has named TLV Kumar to the newly created position of president – Europe, Middle East and Africa and a member of the KCI executive committee. Kumar joins KCI from Applied Biosystems. KCI is a provider of wound care products and therapeutic services.
  • Michael Malone has been named president/CEO of RemedyMD (Salt Lake City). Previously, Malone was president/COO for IBRIX. RemedyMD uses predictive informatics to recognize patterns, personalize treatment and measurably improve outcomes.
