In addition to unveiling hundreds of new products at the) 93rd annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA; Oak Brook, Illinois) in Chicago this week, several medical imaging companies also are using the conference to disclose new agreements.
Visage Imaging (Carlsbad, California), a subsidiary of Mercury Computer Systems (Chelmsford, Massachusetts), reported a worldwide integration agreement with Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium), a provider of IT-enabled clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging solutions.
Agfa will integrate the Visage CS Thin Client/Server into its IMPAX product line to provide enterprise-wide advanced visualization capabilities based on 3D thin-client technology.
Visage also reported an agreement with Siemens Medical Solutions (Hoffman Estates, Illinois) to deliver advanced 3D visualization and image distribution solutions to hospitals and imaging centers worldwide.
Siemens will integrate Visage’s advanced 3D thin client platform into its SIENET Magic product line.
Sun Microsystems (Santa Clara, California) reported that Agfa has also chosen to use Sun infrastructure for its IMPAX digital imaging platform with the integrated visualization solution from Barco (Belgium).
Agfa will offer the solution on Sun Ultra 40 M2 Workstations and a Sun Fire X2100 M2 server.
Compressus (Washington) said that E-Rad Solutions (Palm Beach Gardens, Florida) has selected its MEDxConnect system to fuel its entry into the teleradiology market. E-Rad said it would implement the MEDxConnect technology on behalf of its first client, a three-hospital group in Florida.
The MEDxConnect acts as a communications hub, enabling various PACS, HIS, RIS and other data information systems to connect and communicate across the Enterprise, according to Compressus. The system helps control the flow of images, reports, messages, standard patient demographics and other data for diagnosis and treatment planning of a patient between otherwise independent and disparate systems, the company said.
