Seth Fischer has been named company group chairman and worldwide franchise chairman of Cordis (New Brunswick, New Jersey), effective Jan. 1. Fischer is currently company group chairman, North America pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, a role he assumed in July 2004. Cordis, a J&J company, specializes in interventional vascular technology.

Richard Meyerhoff has been named VP of sales and service in the security division of Implant Sciences (Wakefield, Massachusetts). Previously, Meyerhoff spent four years as international sales manager and director of sales with EG&G Astrophysics. Implant Sciences makes explosives detection products and technology.

Nick Vaney has been promoted from CFO to VP of operations and chief strategy officer of Nightingale Informatix (Markham, Ontario). Nightingale is a healthcare application service provider of EMR and practice management software.

• Osiris Therapeutics (Columbia, Maryland) said that Cary Claiborne, its CFO, has left the company to pursue new professional opportunities. Claiborne will provide transition assistance to Osiris through March 31, 2008. Phil Jacoby, corporate controller and assistant secretary, will serve as interim CFO and corporate secretary until Claiborne’s successor is named. Jacoby joined Osiris in April 2005, and has over 20 years of experience in public company finance. Osiris is a stem cell therapeutic company focused on making products to treat inflammatory, orthopedic and cardiovascular conditions.

Robert Palmisano has been named a venture partner of SV Life Sciences Advisers (San Francisco). Palmisano was most recently CEO and director of IntraLase. SV Life Sciences is a venture capital adviser and manager.
