• The American Diabetes Association (ADA; Alexandria, Virginia) reported that R. Stewart Perry was elected chairmain. Perry also served as chair of the National Advocacy Committee and was instrumental in passing legislation for diabetes care in schools in Hawaii, Kentucky and Texas. The American Diabetes Association is a non-profit health organization dedicated to preventing and curing diabetes and to improving the lives of the nearly 21 million children and adults currently living with the disease.
  • Jay Caplan was named COO of Candela (Wayland, Massachusetts). Most recently, Caplan was chief technology officer at InfraReDx. Candela makes clinical solutions that enable physicians, surgeons, and personal care practitioners to treat selected cosmetic and medical conditions using lasers, aesthetic laser systems, and other advanced technologies.
  • Merit Health Systems (Louisville, Kentucky) reported the appointment of Michael Curran as CEO of Medical Center at Lancaster in Lancaster, Texas. Curran most recently was CEO of Toppenish Community Hospital in Toppenish, Washington. Merit Health Systems is a private hospital management company focused on owning and operating urban and suburban community hospitals.
