Emisphere to move corporate headquarters

Emisphere Technologies (Tarrytown, New York) said it will move its corporate headquarters from Tarrytown to Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, while retaining its scientific staff and laboratory facilities in Tarrytown.

Emisphere is a biopharmaceutical company that focuses on delivery of therapeutic molecules and pharmaceutical compounds using its eligen technology, which makes it possible to deliver a therapeutic molecule without altering its chemical form or biological integrity.

The move to New Jersey is one of several real estate initiatives planned by the company that, cumulatively, could result in long-term savings of more than $1 million, it said.

LAN now will include telemedicine

Language Access Network (LAN; Columbus, Ohio), a provider of video interpretation services, said that it has expanded its business to include telemedicine. Doctors can now perform patient consultations via LAN’s live, HIPAA compliant network, over their two-way video system called MARTTI.

“If a hospital or healthcare provider is understaffed or in a rural area and needs a doctor, but the doctor can not physically attend or has a schedule conflict, the hospital or provider can utilize the MARTTI system and LAN’s HIPAA compliant network to perform a live, two-way, video patient consultation,” said CEO Michael Guirlinger. “The average time used per unit is roughly 10 minutes, with a cost ranging from $2.25 to $3.75 a minute, and the use of the MARTTI system to perform a patient consultation may be reimbursable under Medicare or the patient's insurance,” Guirlinger said.
