• Implant Sciences (Wakefield, Massachusetts) reported that Dr. Anthony Armini has stepped down as president/CEO, and that it has named Phillip Thomas, its COO, as the new president/CEO. Armini will continue to serve as chairman until the 2007 annual meeting of stockholders planned for later this year. Implant Sciences manufactures products through its primary business units: explosives trace detection (ETD) systems for homeland security, defense, and other security related applications and services for the medical and semiconductor industries. The company has developed proprietary technology used in its commercial portable and bench-top ETD systems.
• Mirasol Panlilio has been named VP of marketing and sales of VeraLight (Albuquerque, New Mexico). Panlilio previously worked at Abbott Diagnostics. VeraLight is a privately held medical instrumentation company.
